Orator of the Month: Shaping Voices, Building Leaders

It is often said that experience is the best teacher, and confidence cannot be gained through theory alone. Understanding this fundamental truth, the Oxford Speakers’ Academy has been organizing its in-house Orator of the Month competition every month since January 2004—and the journey continues.

The aim is not just to teach students how to speak or how to become great orators. The essence of this initiative lies in creating awareness about what to speak, why to speak, when to speak, and what not to speak. After all, we, as individuals, are the voice and strength of our nation. A well-articulated message can inspire, influence, and bring about change, making it imperative for the youth to develop both eloquence and substance.

More Than Just a Competition

Participants join the competition for various reasons—some seek knowledge, some wish to be a part of a supportive learning community, while others are drawn by their passion for public speaking. However, the benefits extend far beyond the competition itself. Every student who takes part experiences personal and professional growth, preparing them to excel in the world outside.

In today’s competitive era, it is not just intelligence that matters, but also how effectively one presents their ideas. The ability to communicate with confidence and clarity is a skill that can set an individual apart. At Oxford Speakers’ Academy, we believe that being cerebral is important, but being salable is equally essential—and for that, one must master the art of presentation with substance.

A Unique Approach to Learning

Each month, participants are given topics covering various aspects of life, aimed at awakening the youth and encouraging critical thinking. The most unique feature of this contest is that since its inception, no topic has ever been repeated. This ensures that every edition of the competition brings fresh perspectives, challenges participants to think outside the box, and keeps the learning experience dynamic.

Through this initiative, Oxford Speakers’ Academy continues to nurture future leaders, equipping them with the skills to express their thoughts with conviction. The journey of becoming an orator is not just about speaking; it is about making an impact.

So, to every aspiring speaker—step up, speak out, and let your voice be heard. The world is listening!
